一、表示大約數(shù)目
大約數(shù)目指的是圍繞特定數(shù)目、以及比特定數(shù)目或多或少的數(shù)目。漢語在數(shù)詞前加“約”、“約計(jì)”、“大約”、“大概”等詞，或在數(shù)詞后加“左右”、“上下”等詞表示。英語(論壇)在數(shù)詞前加 about, around，some，approximately，roughly，more or less，in the neighbourhood of等詞或詞組，或在數(shù)詞后加or so，or thereabout，in the rough等詞組表示，例如：
1、about／around five o’clock大約五點(diǎn)鐘／五點(diǎn)鐘左右
2、about／around／some／approximately／roughly／more or less／in the neighbourhood of twenty people 大約二十人／二十人左右
二、表示“少于”的數(shù)目
表示比特定數(shù)目少或小的數(shù)目，漢語在數(shù)詞前加“少于”、“小于”、“低于”、“不到”、“不及”、“不足”等詞，或在數(shù)詞后加“以下”、“以內(nèi)”、“以里”等詞表示。英語在數(shù)詞前加fewer than， less than，under，below，within等詞或詞組表示，例如：
1、fewer than／less than／under／below／within one thousand yuan少于一千元／不到一千元／一千元以下
2、below zero degrees Celsius 攝氏零度以下
三、表示“差不多”的數(shù)目
差不多，是一種特殊的表示“少于”的數(shù)目的方法，接近特定數(shù)目或僅差一點(diǎn)。漢語在數(shù)詞前加“近”、“將近”、“接近”、“幾乎”、“差不多”、“差一點(diǎn)”、“差一點(diǎn)不到”等詞表示。英語在數(shù)詞前加nearly，almost，toward，close on等詞或詞組表示， 例如：
1、nearly／almost／toward fifty years old將近五十歲／差一點(diǎn)五十歲
2、nearly／almost／close on one hundred yuan將近一百元／差不多一百元
四、表示“多于”的數(shù)目
表示比特定數(shù)目多或大的數(shù)目，漢語在數(shù)詞前加“多于”、“大于”、 “高于”、 “超過”等詞，或在數(shù)詞后加“多”、“來”、“幾”、“余”、“以上”等詞表示。英語在數(shù)詞前加more than ，over，above，upwards of等詞或詞組表示，或用在數(shù)詞后加and more，odd，and odd等詞或詞組表示，例如：
1、 more than／over／above／upwards of a hundred yuan one hundred yuan and more／odd／and odd一百多元／一百來元
2、above thirty-two degrees Fahrenheit華氏32度以上
五、表示“介于"的數(shù)目
表示介于兩個(gè)特定數(shù)目之間的數(shù)目，漢語用“到”、“至”等詞連接兩個(gè)數(shù)詞，或用“介于…之間”表示。英語用from…to；(anywhere)between…and…表示，例如：
1、from five to six days; between five and six days五至六天
2、from eight hundred to nine hundred kilometres anywhere between eight hundred and nine hundred kilometres(介于) 八百到九百公里 (之間)
六、表示“相鄰”的數(shù)目
連用兩個(gè)相鄰的數(shù)字，表示一個(gè)不確定數(shù)目。英語用or連接兩個(gè)相鄰數(shù)字來表示。注意“三三兩兩”是特殊的“相鄰”的數(shù)目。表示“兩個(gè)或兩個(gè)以上”等，英語在數(shù)詞后加or more表示， 例如：
1、two or three兩三個(gè)
2、sixty or seventy六七十
3、three thousand or four thousand三四千
4、by twos and threes 三三兩兩
5、two or more兩個(gè)或兩個(gè)以上
七、表示“數(shù)十”等數(shù)目
表示“數(shù)十”、“數(shù)百”、“數(shù)千”等不確定數(shù)目，英語在ten／dozen／score／hundred/thousand／million／billion等數(shù)詞的復(fù)數(shù)形式后加of 構(gòu)成，例如：
1、tens of(20—99)；dozens of(24—99); scores of(40-99) 數(shù)十／幾十／好幾十
2、hundreds of (200—999)；several hundred 數(shù)百／數(shù)以百計(jì)／幾百／好幾百／成百
3、thousands of (2，000—9，999)；several thousand 數(shù)千／數(shù)以千計(jì)／幾千／好幾千／成千
4、tens of thousands of (20，000—99，999) 數(shù)萬／數(shù)以萬計(jì)／幾萬／好幾萬
5、hundreds of thousands of (200，000—999，999) 數(shù)十萬／幾十萬／好幾十萬
6、millions of (2，000，000—9，999，999) 數(shù)百萬／幾百萬／好幾百萬
7、tens of millions of (20，000，000-99，999，999) 數(shù)千萬／幾千萬／好幾千萬
8、hundreds of millions of (200，000，000-999，999，999) 數(shù)億／幾億／好幾億
9、 數(shù)十億／幾十億／好幾十億 billions of(2，000，000，000—9，999，999，999)
